ILLUSTRATOR & STORYTELLER

Yuke Li studied in the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program at the School of Visual Arts and now focuses on children’s books, public art, and etching. An introspective artist, she approaches children’s books as a dialogue with her inner self, public art as a conversation with the world and community, and etching as a space for reflecting on the complexity of both the world and the self. These three practices help her maintain a creative and emotional balance. Yuke previously worked with Bill Plympton at Plymptoons as Art Director on the feature animation film Slide.

Yuke uses visual language to express emotions, thoughts, and stories. The diversity of people and culture has been her forever inspiration. Yuke's goal is to inspire people with another possibility, to comfort sadness, and to plant a hopeful seed in the mind. She believes that magic happens, and art is the way.
