ILLUSTRATOR & STORYTELLER
Yuke Li
Before moving to the United States in 2017 Yuke wrote, illustrated and published several children’s books. In the U.S. she enrolled in the School of Visual Arts MFA Illustration as Visual Essay Program where she was mentored by Marshall Arisman whom she counts as a significant influence.
After graduation in 2020 Yuke began her career in earnest as a freelance illustrator and storyteller, including a stint with Bill Plympton at Plymptoons as an animation art director. She now makes her home in New York City, working on books, public art and editorial illustrations.
In describing her work Yuke says, “I use the visual language to express emotions, thoughts and stories. The diversity of people and culture have been my most recent inspiration. My goal is to inspire people with another possibility, to comfort sadness, or to plant a hopeful seed in the mind. I believe that magic happens and art is my way.”

Her work has been recognized and awarded by American Illustration, Bologna Children’s Book Fair, World Illustration Awards, ADC Awards, 3X3 Magazine and MoCCA Arts Fest (Best of Show 2022).
